The Blue-fronted Amazon is a medium-sized parrot species within the family Psittacidae. It is named for the blue coloration that typically appears on the forehead, though the amount and shade of blue can vary geographically. This species generally displays a variety of colors, including green plumage with yellow and blue facial markings and red or orange patches on the wings. Several subspecies are recognized, differing slightly in coloration and distribution. In the wild, Blue-fronted Amazons inhabit a variety of environments, including dry forests, savannas, woodlands, scrublands, and riverine habitats across countries of central South America. They nest primarily in tree cavities.
