"Scientific Name: Amazona albifrons Native Range: Central America The White-fronted Amazon, also known as the Spectacled Parrot, is a small Amazon parrot species within the family Psittacidae. It is named for the distinctive white patch on the forehead and red “eye mask”, which is present in both sexes. This species is sexually dimorphic: males typically display bright red feathers on the leading edge of the wing (the alula), while females generally lack this feature. In the wild, they inhabit dry forests, tropical deciduous forests, savannas, and scrublands throughout Mexico and Central America. IUCN Conservation Status: Least Concern At Parrot Stars, we prioritize education, welfare, and responsible parrot ownership to help ensure every bird finds and thrives in a forever home. Before taking home any parrot, we provide comprehensive guidance on proper caging and setup, positive reinforcement training, household safety, nutrition, and enrichment. Parrots in captivity are still wild animals with all their natural instincts. Your overall success and experience with any species of companion parrot is greatly impacted by positive reinforcement training. A parrot’s behavior reflects both the environment they live in and the training they receive. All of our hand-fed babies are hatched and raised in our own breeding facility and weaned onto a diverse, high-variety diet. Our parrots are never clipped and are fully flighted. Follow our Parrot Stars Podcast to learn all about our parrots, our purchase process, and our philosophy of parrot care."
