Indianapolis, Indiana Bought a blueheaded macaw on 3/26/21. Diagnosed with psittacine chlamydia/parrot fever via antibody blood test on 4/7/21, bird died 5/14. Doesn't honor health guarantee, outright lies that the 'tests were wrong'. BUYER BEWARE blog.yondutheblue.com

This is a very unfortunate situation, anytime a bird passes away it is very devastating, but the lab that did the test came back with a false positive! Neither this bird nor any bird at Todd Marcus Birds Exotic have been positive for psittacosis in more than two decades, unfortunately people get tunnel vision on a test and miss the cause! In business today the most valuable thing that you have is your reputation, I would not jeopardize my reputation if I felt that this bird truly had any disease or problems before we sold the bird. I offered a replacement bird for way below our cost because of the short time she did have him. We also offered to have the replacement bird fully vetted by our Avian Board Certified vet at no charge as well as shipping. We take always stand behind every bird we sell and we would never try to profit off of someone’s unfortunate loss. These birds are in our care for months and they are part of our family just as much as they are part of yours. Our vet has reviewed this case every step of the way and his summary is posted as well.- Todd Marcus I have reviewed the records for the following individual “Yondu” Madar, a seven month old Male Macaw It appears that he was first presented to Purdue University on 4/7/2021 for an initial exam. Based on the notes, the physical exam was normal. One of the tests was for Chlamydophila and an EBA Titer was run via Antech Diagnostis. The result of this was >=1:10 which detects IgM antibodies. If clinical, we will usually see a rise in the White Blood Cell Count and in Liver values. Neither of these profiles were run. Paired titers showing a two dilution rise in the EBA is consistent with an acute infection. There was no second titer run. The bird was started based on the single test on an oral Antibiotic (Doxycycline). On 5/14/2021, Yondu represented to the hospital for lethargy after an episode of regurgitation. He had a markedly increased respiratory rate with increased abdominal effort. He was referred to the University of Illinois Veterinary Teaching Hospital. On presentation at The University of Illinois Veterinary Teaching Hospital he was open mouth breathing and placed in oxygen. During sedation for an exam he went into cardiopulmonary arrest. A necropsy was performed and based on the paperwork there was no specific diagnosis based the gross findings. Further testing was performed, the most relevant being that Immunohistochemistry (IHC) for chlamydia was negative, and a Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) for Chlamydia run at Cornell's reference lab was negative. Dispite a single EBA Titer being >=1:10, there is no confirmatory evidence of Chlamydophila in this bird. David S. Kupersmith, DVM Animal & Bird Health Care Center June 18, 2021

Seattle , Washington Purchased several birds from Chris at Birds Exotic and was extremely happy with all of them! They are very healthy, friendly, and the process was stress free and I did not have to worry. Shipping was also very reasonable and easy to do.
