"Scientific Name: Forpus coelestis (Pacific Parrotlet) Native Range: Western Coast, South America The Pacific Parrotlet is an extremely small parrot species within the family Psittacidae and is one of several species commonly referred to as parrotlets. It is characterized by predominantly green plumage, with males typically displaying cobalt-blue markings on the rump, wings, and behind the eyes, while females lack these blue patches. This species is sexually dimorphic. In the wild, Pacific Parrotlets inhabit dry forests, scrublands, and semi-arid regions of western Ecuador and northwestern Peru. They nest in tree cavities and are often observed in small flocks. IUCN Conservation Status: Least Concern At Parrot Stars, we prioritize education, welfare, and responsible parrot ownership to help ensure every bird finds and thrives in a forever home. Before taking home any parrot, we provide comprehensive guidance on proper caging and setup, positive reinforcement training, household safety, nutrition, and enrichment. Parrots in captivity are still wild animals with all their natural instincts. Your overall success and experience with any species of companion parrot is greatly impacted by positive reinforcement training. A parrot’s behavior reflects both the environment they live in and the training they receive. All of our hand-fed babies are hatched and raised in our own breeding facility and weaned onto a diverse, high-variety diet. Our parrots are never clipped and are fully flighted. Follow our Parrot Stars Podcast to learn all about our parrots, our purchase process, and our philosophy of parrot care."
