If you listed "Other" state which one you're using and why you like it -- or why your birds seem to like it!?

When do you give your birds pellets? Daily? Less frequent?

I listed "Other" for Pellets because I don't feed Pellets - I prefer to feed seed/nuts and real fresh food.........I've done extensive research and believe fresh food is better for my feathered friends.

I am not an avian nutritionist, but I dont see anything wrong with pellets as long as they are not your birds only source of food because they simply can't contain everything you bird needs however they do include many vitamins, minerals, and nutrients.  I believe the best diet today includes pellets along with fresh foods/seed/nuts.

I am also not putting down your natural approach, I guess I am just sticking up for the rest of the pellet feeding world

I sometimes mix Mazuri medium pellets.  This is because a couple of my birds prefer it and all of them will eat it, but the fruit flavored Zupreem is the favorite of all the foods.

We use RoudyBush at our aviary in limited quantity now -  rotating it in a couple of times a week.  For  two and 1/2 years we used it about 5 times a week but after studying diets of many aviaries I wanted to feed a much more varied diet to the aviary flock.  My birds at home  have always had less than 1/2 cup of RoudyBush or Kaytee a week and eagerly await the variety of each days menu.  I do not use colored pellets.

Hi Everyone!

....on the Pellet Poll...

Don't get me wrong, we shouldn't just feed our birds solely pellets - it's just fun to see who's feeding what pelleted diet to their birds.  There's so much buzz on which ones are everyone's favorites, but it's nice to hear what our little online community is doing.

regards,

Manon

Yep,

I agree, you shouldnt feed just pellets.  I use Roudybush.--Over the past several years I have tried lots of different brands, I like Roudybush the best.  Then a couple times a week seed/nut/dried veggie/fruit mix--Dr. Harvey's is my favorite.  Frozen veggies, fresh veggies, fruit, legumes,  bird breeds, blah blah blah, everyday.

I chose Zupreem but that isn't my birds full diet, I also use Roudybush along with a good seed mixture. I cook every day for my birds, most is prepared ahead of time so I just take a small bag of it from the feezer for the next day. I make a great deal of birdy treats including different kinds of birdie breads. I try to get my birds to eat a wide variety of fresh fruits and veggies. For the most part all of them are excellent eaters and will try most anything.

Personally, I mix my bird food.

I usually buy bulk seed and millet and mix in rainbow pellets...something I've noticed my male Gouldian finch is particular about. (He likes the pink and orange pellets best and actually digs in the bowl if there aren't any on the surface.) I also have a fresh bowl where I put broccoli heads and bits of apple and grapes in there. (I can only imagine how those taste together. Mm. Broccoli and grapes.)

But...I'll be the repeater, I refuse to give my birds a singular diet. Not just pellets. Not just seed. And not just fresh foods. I think of it like this, eating just one kind of food would be horrible for us, so obviously it would be bad for them too.
