I was just wondering what kind of additives you all use for your breeders and babies.

We use the following for Adult birds:

In their Water - Organic Apple Cider Vinegar, Pro-biotics Adults, Trace Minerals

In their Food - Organic Apple Cider Vinegar, Wheat Germ, Spiralina

We alternate each of those for a different day (never at the same time and never the same thing two days in a row).  We also use Nekton E, Nekton R, Nekton S, Nekton MSA to different parrots at different times.

We use the following for our Babies, some more than others (in formula):

Spiralina, Organic Apple Cider Vinegar (about 2 times per week), Pro-biotics chick

Ok....I guess either no one uses any additives or maybe no one wants to share their secrets, lol.

We use Quicko for a lot of our smaller pairs. They really tear into it when they are getting ready to lay. We also use Calcium plus to help bulk them up prior to laying. We feed Zupreem as their staple and supplement with veggies and chopped up hard boiled egg and give a treat of seed about once a week or so.  We also dehydrate our own fruits and vegetables for their treats as well as it cuts down on the mess. (wet in means wet out..)

Hope this helps...

We are looking into getting some sort of Calcium supplement for our pairs.  We also feed Zupreem Pellets as well as seed.  Good idea on dehydrating the fresh foods, does it take any of the nutrients out through the process of dehydrating?

Thanks

Hi,

We also use organic apple cider vinegar in our aviary.  Everybirdy gets ACV in their water once or twice a week, including pairs feeding babies, and babies we are hand feeding.

Here is a link to the article that first led us to the decision to use vinegar:

There are several other good articles on this site as well.  Hope you find this useful.

I use very little in the water due to contamination. I use water Buddy Bottle therefore If I want to add something I put it in the bath or on the eggfood they get every am.
I do use ACV in all my handfeeding to prevent crop sour

Hi there!

sounds like you're off to a good start.  Also Papaya helps in their digestion tremendously, you may want to consider this as well.

How much of each item may be a consideration, as some of the ingredients are already in natural foods.  Nekton is great we use that as

well, we just don't over do it.

Hi I have never given my birds vinegar to my birds. Where can I find the amount that should be given. Do you put it in their water. I would appreciate any information I can get. I love this suite.

I use Braggs Organic ACV.  I don't know the website off hand, but try typing "Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar" into your search engine, something should pop up
