Hi, I set up a pair of Green Cheek Conures and it was like love at first sight. They took to each other within minutes. I have seen them mating almost every day. The female has been in the box since March 27th only coming out to eat, drink and stretch. I have checked the nest box and she hasn't laid any eggs yet. On average how long do Green Cheeks sit in the nest box before they start laying? When I was breeding Cockatiels I could always tell when the female was going to lay an egg is there a way to tell with Green Cheek Conures? Thanks.

My green cheek hid her egg underneath the paper she uses as bedding--mostly tissue and paper towel. She is sitting up on top of that. This is my first experience dealing with breeding green cheeks as well and wasn't intended. So I am trying to seek out as much information as possible. We thought we had purchased two males, lol.

They can take up to 3 weeks before beginning to lay. Age makes a difference. My 1 year olds will go to nest but I haven't had fertile clutches till they are 2-4 years old.
