I have a pair of blue and gold macaws that just recently got their nest/heat box for the winter. I love in south Georgia but it still gets quite cold in the winter so I needed to put in something and since I was planning to breed them eventually anyways I figured I would just give them their nest box. They show a lot of interest in it and have become VERY territorial and aggressive towards me, and one (I think the female) stays in there a good chunk of the time. Does anyone know if macaws will breed during the winter months (albeit they are generally mild winter months) or if I should just wait til it warms up to provide them with nesting material and whatnot?
thanks!
