| Hello, I just recently took in a 12 year old severe macaw and I was wondering is it common for birds like this to like only one gender. He seems to love my husband and talks to him and lets him pick him up etc. However, when I go to handle him I can only take him from the floor. If I try to get him to step up from my husbands shoulder he bites. Same when I just stand in front of the cage and talk to him. He lounges to bite me. When he sees my husband though he will kiss him through the bars too. anything we can do to fix this issue? Are there other Macaw owners that have encountered this problem with a rehomed bird?
