He wants nothing to do with any of us. I have not rushed anything and trying to be patient but he truly shows no signs after almost 2 months of any improvement. I have been coaxing him with millet but the minute he gets a bite of his treat he runs for the hills. I think he is just not right? I may be wrong but if I can even get him to take the millet in the first place he always runs for the hills. I am beyond lost as to what to do and I email the breeder but it takes a month for them to get back to me. I truly think we got a bird that just isn't quite right? Any advice??????

We really need to step up and share the names of these breeders who are producing inbred sick and mean baby parrotlets. If we warn people hopefully they will loose business and stop selling and breeding altogether. I am happy to share all the good breeders names I have had experience with and warn people of the bad ones. I hope you can all agree!!!

YES! The only way to shut down these BAD breeders is to be able to share information and names of them! I belong to a Parrotlet Forum, and it is their new Policy to Not allow people to mention the breeder by name. So so sad. Another thing is that people on the forum are really kind but they have been telling people incorrectly that if their baby is not friendly it just takes time... What a load of shite! A hand-fed baby is sweet, loving and friendly unless it was NOT cared for properly and other people need to stop telling new Parrotlet owners that they just need to wait.

No, no. No!

A person should not have to wait for a hand-fed baby of any species to become Tame. A hand-fed baby should already be sweet and trusting...

The Only time I ever have had a hand-fed baby that "needed taming" was my male White-face Cockatiel. He was hand-fed (maybe) but never, ever socialized. And his breeder told people that her babies were close-banded. In fact she told me that on the phone but when I arrived to pick out my baby none of them were! I should have left but I was about 14 so I paid her the $95 and took him home to tame him

He's still alive and fortunately for us is still healthy as can be even though he'll be 17 this December.

Most though die within the first month or year though. We got extremely lucky with him, but I'll NEVER make that same mistake again. The next bird we are getting, the breeder has been picked out for a year. She is good.

But... The Parrotlet breeder we had picked out is HORRIBLE! We're not going to get a baby from them. In fact we've done more and more research and discovered that you should Never pay for your bird with PayPal because they do not have to Refund your money if you are purchasing a bird. So everybody should know: Do NOT pay your Deposit, or anything though PayPal when it comes to birds. And: Do NOT trust a breeder that tries to talk you into it or specifically requests being paid through PayPal!

It should raise a Big Red Flag if a breeder even has that as an option.
