I hope you don’t mind but I have a question I am hoping someone can answer. My wife and I have 4 Java Rice Finches that we love dearly. They sing so beautifully.. anyway.. my question is this “Do they molt?”

It looks for all the world like they are molting and getting in new feathers. They have always been pieds and are getting A LOT more small white feathers coming in. This is our first spring with them so I am not sure what is going on. I use lice/mite spray and they are fed on a combination of Harrisons and Ecotrition Finch Food. I also make up a minced salad of various veggies and peppers and nuts they absolutely love.

There has been no change in behavior or grooming that I can see. The males are still singing up a storm and it each of the 4 has this appearance to some degree.

Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.
