Hello,

I joined this website in hopes of learning something before deciding whether or not to get a bird. I have never owned one before. I am thinking about a new pet, I was recently an owner of rats, but my father made me get rid of them  It was a very sad day for me. Now that I no longer live with my parents, I am still a little gloomy about losing my companions (which was a couple months ago). I know something different will not replace Georgie and Eliza, but I would enjoy a little companion. I've never owned a bird before, and understand that certain types need lots of attention to bond with their owners, at least, from what I've read. Since I am a college student (a sophomore, and I am considering a pet because I highly doubt I will be living in the dorms which is why I'm thinking about this) I'm not sure what would be best for me shoud I decide to do this. I was considering finches to start out with, but budgies and cockatiels seem like they have some personality from what I've read! However, again, I'm not sure I would have enough time for them and I would love to give them all the time they needed with me. Any suggestions from what you've read? Thanks. Also, all pros/cons of a bird. I've read many, but I would like some answers from people who've lived it first-hand.
