Hello, I have had Mojo, my Green Cheeked Conure for about 4 months and he is mean. He was mean to his last owners but they gave him to me because he really liked me and every time I went over to their house the would fly to me and give me attention. Unfortunately, Mojo bit me on my nose last week and I have not let him have shoulder time since then. It really hurt and it was bleeding quite bad! He also used to like my 15 year old daughter too but just tonight he bit her on her lip as soon as he got on her shoulder! I don't know what to do, does anyone have a suggestion? He did have a mate at one time but she died a few months ago. Any help would be great!! Thank you! I hope I posted this in the right area. ~Shannon

| When I got my first quaker he was nasty so I called him nasty. He bit me most of the time, but I found with patience and returning him to his cage after he bit me I suggest that right after he bits you tap him on his beak with your figure gently and say bad boy return him to his cage and turn your back and walk away. Keep doing this and he will adventually stop. You have to be patient with this it will take time. My Quaker after 4 years finally informed me his name is Pepie I hope this helps. Louise

Hello
I hope things are going better with your Green Cheek, I wouldn't recommend hitting the bird though. Even though it's beak is strong enough to break through shells, it's still delicate enough to break if you hit it too hard. A good rule of thumb is that every time the bird misbehaves, you put it back in it's cage and ignore it. If it makes noise for you to get him out, you'll have to ignore him. Keep doing this and your bird will learn it's lesson. If you yell at him or hit him, he'll think his behavior is acceptable and keep doing it because it gets a reaction out of you. Try it.
