I acquired a mean, rude and nasty male greenwing, after loving on him, spoiling him, being sweet to him, being patience with him, i tell you he is one of thee most lovablest (is that a word?) birdy i have, i can't believe the change in my baby Cracker, he is truly a miracle, lol. i am getting a pair of blue and golds and i am sure i am gonna fall in love just the same with them, i love the bigness of my greenwing, he is such an eye catcher, people just love to look at him, we go for walks, drives in the car, bike rides, he is so huge and looks so funny, anyways, i hope you get a greenwing and a blue and gold, macaws are truly amazing to own. Good Luck Sweety!

I have a catalina and blue throat.  The catalina is 10 months had him since he was 2 months and has a pleasant attitude.  His name is Forrest and is very playful, cuddling, and loves the interaction of having people around.  He picks up words and talks all the time.

I got the blue throat a couple of months ago at 5 months of age and was a biter when I first brought him home.  Someone had defaulted on their layaway and apparently they thought biting was cute and encourage it.  He has tame down now but you have to be patience and work with him and now used to the environment he doing much better.  He gets along fine with the Forrest and we notice the more Forrest interacts with the family he starting to want the attention as well. Not that we didn't pay attention to him he just didn't want the interaction.  We name him Gilligan and is starting to talk and is now becoming a loving bird although nothing like Forrest.  I think over time and work he will be a pleasant bird.

I recommend getting your bird as young as possible as they become more bond to you just as you do to them whereas the older they are as in Gilligan they are scared and takes longer for them to adapt to a new enviroment.

I like the blue and gold. I think they're prettier than the others, and the cost less. My least favorite would be the green-wing macaw, which I think can look kind of evil sometimes. hmmm... here's a list from favorite to least favorite: blue and gold, scarlet, military, hyacinth, green-wing. That's not all of them, of course, but I think listing the more common ones would save some time.

Hyacinth Macaws are my favorite. They are friendlier in my experience than the other Macaws. Could just be my birds though. They love to talk and seem very intelligent. Sometimes my Joey says the timeliest things!
