I am trying to decide which type of bird to obtain as a pet. Here are the items to factor into the decision. Any and all help is apprecitated.

1) Small size as they will be kept indoors

2) Pleasant song but not loud or prone to shreiking

3) Not a prolific breeder (Zebra finches for example)

4) Budget of under $250/pair

5) Nice coloring scores extra points but not essential

The factors you have put forth make it difficult to advise you on any bird for they crossed out just about every suggestion I would have made... sorry

If you are not looking for something to breed I would suggest a hybrid (European goldfinch x canary). These are beautiful little birds that are infertile and have a gorgeous beautiful song. Smile
