This is one of my birds favorite times for "fun foods".  Some ideas to prevent bordem and encourage foraging behavior are....

Little itty bitty pumpkins.  Scrub them up, and place them on the bottom or top of your birds cage.  This provides hours of playing, and chewing and throwing etc... for our birds.  Even the lil' guys (Parrotlets, Lovies, Poi, etc...) LOVE to "attack" and chow down on lil' pumpkins.

Pomegranates.  Cut a big chunk and place in a food dish, or on the cage floor and watch them go nuts!  Eyes  pinning as the juice from the seeds bursts.  They have to "dig" to find more seeds once the top layer is gone.  This also gives a good amount of time for foraging, playing, etc...

Butternut squash, acorn squash, etc... These squashes have a better "squish" factor like softer squashes.  A big chunk in the cage can be tossed around, peeled, devored, etc...  and yes, they can also have the seeds in these foods.

Use your imagination.  Have fun with it, your bird will LOVE you for it!  NOTE:  make sure you take out leftovers in a timely fashion.  Please clean fruits and veggies well.
