| Im a little late posting to this topic lol, but anyways. I would say get a baby, weaned. This way you form that special bond that is so important early in your birds life.

| If you purchase a sun conure from a reputable breeder and obtain a fully weaned baby, there is nothing to fear! The 'baby' is a bird fully capable of eating from a dish, drinking from a bowl or water bottle and should be trained to at least 'step up'. If you deal with a good bird store or breeder, there is nothing to fear from purchasing a young sun conure. Conures in general are personality plus and the suns are no exception. They are big, big parrots in a little body. With care and attention they can learn tricks, definitely bond with you and can turn into a life long friend. Please do not be afraid to deal with a young parrot. They are trusting, loving and delightful. Just make sure you are dealing with a breeder or store that is willing to support your efforts. If you live in the Jersey area, I strongly suggest Fancy Feathers as a place of great support. Good luck with any baby you choose. I raise conures and I find that each baby is uniquely different and my babies pick their owners! Take care.
