I have four parakeets two mated and have three babies. The other two mated laid four eggs and they were blank. Maybe the other two will try again. I found you have to be patient and wait they will nest in their own time. Some suggested to give them some eggs that will encourage them to breed.  Weize PS: worked for me

I have parakeets and cockatiels housed together, we are getting ready to move them into a full flighted avairy so I dont have them set up to breed...HOWEVER, that didnt' stop them from breeding and laying eggs. One parakeet layed 2 eggs on the bottom of the cage so I went ahead and put them in a nest box and she's been in there w/ her eggs since. as of yesterday she had 4 eggs. so it doesnt matter what "we" want..its what they want and when they are ready..nothing seems to stop them her little man was in the box w/ her. He came out when I went to feed them. So I guess if you are wanting t yours to breed they will when they are ready and when you dont want them breed they breed more (hahaha)
