I've owned my Pacific Parrotlet, Mango, for over a year now. And she is the joy of my life. I was thinking about breeding finches this summer to increase the flock. Is it advisable to house these two different bird species in the same room (Seperate cages)? I know it's better to have a small aviary, but I plan on breeding only one pair in a breeder cage that Mango used to live in. It has 1/2" bar spacing so it should be safe. Mango is now in a higher quality steel cage.

Future finch breeder. Pacific parrotlet owner.

| It should be fine to have them in the same room. If you are concerned you can always line the back of the finch cage with artificial vines (they have them cheap at Michaels) to block line of sight and will make the finches feel more secure and give you something nice to look at as well. (did this with Gouldians who loved the aritificials) Good luck and make sure you have homes lined up for thoese zebra babies or you might very soon have quite a lot more then your original two...
