| I also have a question about incubators. I have a 6 week old macaw that I am handfeeding. But his crop when I got him from the breeder had never emptied, she told me that macaws don't empty. So when I got him home I gave him papaya mixture and his crop took till the next morning to empty. And I thickened up his formula, she was mixing pretty bird formula like water. So I called the company and found out the consistancy that it should be. He weighs 498g today. But the incubator is getting to small for him, he has no room to move. I use fish tanks with heating pads for my quakers could I use that for my macaw if I can get it to 90 degrees. Any lower temp and his crop doesn't seem to empty very good over night. I tried getting help from macaw talk and they were nice at first then asked me for a pic of my baby. After seeing the pic which they said looked healthy (I was glad for that) They accused me of playing games and mean tricks because I have a website and breed birds! I hope you guys don't think that. I'm only here for advice. I don't breed macaws my girlfriend is trying to. Their pic is on my website. I just want to know if it is possible to use the fish tank as a brooder for a macaw baby.

| Hi Greg. I,m a breeder in east country NSW, Australia. Only came online this evening and have been looking for a proper breeders forum and hope this is going to be the one. We have been using the Octagon 20 for 15 years and also have a Grumbach which we use as a stand for the Octagon 20. We hatch about 80 eggs a year in the Brinsea 20, we only incubate the eggs we really have too, the rest stay with the breeding pairs. We live in a area where tempatures go from up to +42 Celsius in summer to -8 Celsius in winter. The Brinsea works well in all climate conditions and varies about 1 degree in main whether conditions where as the Grumbach crept up 6 degrees in summer and worked better in cooler conditions. We have given up on the Grumbach till we get the nursery air conditioned during the summer months. We have hatched bucket loads of Lorikeets aswell as Amazons, B G Macaws, conures, Gang Gangs, Mayor Mithells, Red -White- and Yellow Tailed Black Cockatoos to name a few of the main ones, all in the Octagon Brinsea 20. Because it is a small incubator, it is easy to control.
Regards from down under.
Paul.

| I have been using the Brinsea incubator's with great success. I actually use 2 of the "digital Pro 20's" and I keep 2 of the small ones running as back ups as well. They are easy to clean, and sanitize, and a great tool, for bird breeding. I also keep one of there intensive care units the Octogon 5, for the chicks once they are ready to move from the incubator, as its acts like a brooder. Best Regards, Robert Az Blue Moon Aviary LLC

| Hi I have Manday sitting on one egg, the female laid the egg in the cage. I then put a nest up and put the egg in the nest they are both spending a lot of time in the nest. Is this normal for both of them to be in the nest. I keep looking in the nest and everything seems ok.
